Video Story Draft

As my course topic is “My badminton training”, I thought that the most obvious and closely related video story I could create was of badminton training. I thought such an informational or instructional video could really allow people to know more of badminton training and how it is not as easy as it looks. For my design process, I thought of how to place the sequence of the different training so it would feel awkwardly placed and recorded my audio based on the length of the videos.
All the elements used in my project was recorded by myself. All the tools and technique that I used were techniques that were taught in the Premiere tutorial. I felt that my software kept on making my videos glitch so I didn’t know when to stop the video. For people facing this problem, I would suggest to cut the video in your phone gallery before exporting it.

  1. Hello Fang,
I really enjoyed your video story. I think that you did a good job creating an instructional video. I think that each video provided a good example of how to complete the training and workout. I think that maybe you could add some text into the video. Just adding titles like “jump lunges” or the titles of shots performed could help the viewers remember the shots as well as learn more from the performed instruction. You could also adjust the volume on the instructional video. Sometimes it is quiet and a bit muffled and other times during the video it is loud and sounds like there is background noise. Editing the sound could help the video flow better and sound like one coherent piece. Overall the visuals are fantastic, and I like the different shots you were able to show us. I think that you have a great start.

  2. Hi Fang, I think your topic of badminton training is really interesting. I haven’t seen someone do this topic yet this semester. I also really like the aesthetic of your blog with the baby blue in the background. Your video includes a lot of different footage, and it matches well with what you are explaining in your voice-over. One thing I would suggest is to maybe add some background music in the beginning or some sort of text to flow better into the main points of the video. Another thing I noticed was your narrating seemed a little bit quiet, so you could turn up the volume in Premiere if you thought so too. I also encountered the video glitch problem a couple times & I did the same thing as you by just cutting the video while it was still on my phone. Overall your video draft is really good, there was only a few things I thought you could touch up.

  3. Hey Fang great job on your video story, just a couple things to fix that I think would make it better. First is the audio of your narration, I had to turn my volume up very loud just so I can hear you clearly enough as to what you are saying so, just turn the decibels up in the audio in premiere and then we can hear you more clearly. Second is to have some background music, it makes everything flow better and it keeps the person who is watching the video more engaged when you have good music in the background. What you did really good was the editing of your videos with your narration and the transitions of fade to black, that was the perfect transition for the video. I feel if you did any other transition it just would not have worked in that video.

  4. I felt that for this project, I had included a lot of video content making my video story very informative and can bring forward my information clearly and effectively. After going back to my video and reading comments from my classmates, there were two common problems. One, the volume of my voiceover was very low and two, I could add some texts so that my audition can better follow through. I strongly agree with these feedbacks and will be making these changes in my final project. Another possible areas of improvement I received were to add some background music. I would definitely look into this but I am not sure if the background music will be too much as this is a video that involves a lot of information and talking. I am not too happy with the quality of the videos as it seemed slightly pixelated. However, I don’t have a way to solve it at the moment.
